Address Validation in MyEd BC has been problematic from the beginning, and a lot of bad addresses came over from BCeSIS. In order to help you identify which address need to be cleaned up, please follow the instructions below to ensure that all addresses are properly validated. Also, please ensure that whenever you add a new address that the address properly valdiates. So that we can avoid these in the future. 

All steps below will be done in the School View > Student Top Tab > Fieldset Address Validation. 

Street Number Blank or incorrect

1. School View > Student Top Tab > Change fieldset to Address Validation 

2. Sort the column with the name "PhysAdrs > StrNo"  this will bring all of the address with null or street numbers of 0 to the top of the list

3. Click on the Name of the student. 

4. Click on the Addresses tab

5. Click on the "..." option next to the Street Address

6. If the information has been moved down to the Address components, and it is incorrect, click the "User Validated" check box at the top

7. Make the necessary changes

8. Click Save and you will notice that the correct address will appear in the Student list now. 

Street Type missing or Incorrect

1. School View > Student Top Tab > Change fieldset to Address Validation 

2. Sort the column with the name "PhysAdrs > StrType"  this will bring all of the address with null Street Types to the top. You will notice that most of the "StreetName" fields in these cases have the Street Type listed in that column. 

3. Click on the Name of the student. 

4. Click on the Addresses tab

5. Click on the "..." option next to the Street Address

6. Check to make sure that there are no punctuation marks in the street address next to the Street Type as this will prevent it from being displayed properly. If this is the case remove the Punctuation, click Validate and save. 

7. Check to make sure that only abbreviated Street Types are used as the system will not validate full names. Correct and Validate. 

8. There may be an occassional address that does not wish to Validate no matter what you do. If you continue to have problems with an address please add the name of the address to the "Address Validation Problem list" and move on to the next one.
